M.C.U.D. summons Granma, the official newspaper of the Cuban Communist Party.

Cuban Movement for a Unified Democracy Press Release.

The M. C. U. D. by means of this communiqué wishes to clarify the following:

Today, the official voice of the Cuban communist party, the newspaper Granma International Digital Edition under the heading: “Bush institutionalizes the plans of his associates that dream of taking over Cuba”, published a series of false testimonies and in our case, a tendentious and false note to discredit our President the Honorary Doctor and engineer Cesar L. Alarcon, in said comment the only newspaper permitted in the island attacks openly and accuses Eng. Cesar Alarcon of international terrorism and of having well documented ties with the Central Agency of Intelligence (C.I.A.).

The M. C. U. D. declares publicly that said affirmations are false in all their content and summons the dictatorship and their intelligence and counter-intelligence agencies, the roundtable television programs, the commentator Reinaldo Taladrid Herrera, as well as the official newspaper of the Cuban communist party, Granma International, to present before the international public opinion the proofs that vouch for so groundless affirmations.

The M. C. U. D. likewise clarifies that their members and activists maintain a high commitment with their country, therefore are not motivated by economic interests, but by their objective of a free Cuba. The M. C. U. D. does not receive funds neither public nor private and exhorts likewise the aforementioned to make public their sources and demonstrate that we operate with money that is not ours.

We await your response. We offer you seventy-two hours, the public opinion awaits your documented proof.

The M. C. U. D. and eng. Alarcon likewise reserved the right to take legal action against the aforementioned at any international court that may be receptive.
