M.C.U.D promotes Assembly
of the Civil Society in Cuba with Assistant Secretary of State for
Western Hemisphere Affairs, Ambassador Roger F. Noriega.
Washington D.C. March 2, 2005. Today, complying with its international
agenda as well as its commitment to support the "Assembly to promote the
Civil Society in Cuba", the Cuban Movement for a Unified Democracy
represented by its president Eng. César L. Alarcón, met with the
Honorable Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs,
Ambassador Roger F. Noriega.
During the encounter Eng. Alarcón presented Assistant Secretary Roger F.
Noriega with a folder containing information relating to the upcoming
competing congress to be celebrated in Cuba May 20 2005. Eng. Alarcón
asked. Mr. Noriega for his support and that within his agenda of work
and whenever possible announce this important event, because in fact an
event of this magnitude and focused to open areas of freedom in our
mother country deserves the unconditional support of every friend of
democracy and specially our Latin American friends.
Roger F. Noriega holds the highest position of the North American
government to implement its policy towards Latin America and the
Caribbean. Ambassador Noriega is a devotee of freedom and democracy and
is widely known for his support to the present administration that has
demonstrated a commitment to freedom and human rights, and is well aware
of the Cuban drama and knows that in Cuba people do not have any rights.
The Assistant Secretary expressed his total support to this event and
expressed his desire that this "Assembly" can fulfill its objective and
the Cuban people manage to advance in the search for total freedom.
Ambassador Noriega asked Eng. Alarcón to keep him updated on the
advancement and development of "Assembly to promote the Civil Society in
Cuba".
